Looking in on the Andersons

September 13, 2017

Good friends Howard and Denice Anderson, commissioned me to paint a large

3 panel work for their beautiful home in Sunbury.  The painting began as an

exercise in design, but developed into a painting about our friendship and some

of the many things we share in common....a love of art, design, gardens, the

Japanese aesthetic, light, birds, and the patterns of nature.

Looking in on the Andersons…..elements of a friendship can currently be seen

at this years Hidden Faces Exhibition.

The exhibition is a fascinating collection of portraits from artists throughout the state.

Other subjects include: performers: Noni Hazlehurst, Scott Major, Merlyn Quaife,

David Splatt Rosenberg, Dan Sultan & Mick Connelly; sport icons: Gavin Bellis,

Barry Stoneham, Usain Bolt & John Bertrand; artists: Godwin Bradbeer &

Matthew Harding; author Rosalie Ham, filmmaker Kitty-May Allwood,

professors: Allan Fels, Damien Kingsbury & Malcolm Hopwood to name a few.

Curator/manager of Hidden Faces, Jacqueline Taylor OAM says, “ There is something
new and different each year and now in its Sixteenth year, Hidden Faces continues to
reveal the amazing portraiture talent in Victoria."
